LSO Cross Sections and Descriptions

IMPORTANT: FOR ALL FORCED AIR HVAC SYSTEMS- The secondary duct path to any manufacturers supply outlet or our LSO Design Components described here must allow a straight secondary duct path for at least 12"-15" before the connection to these fenestrative components for optimum airflow and quiet operation. As a designer it is hard not to minimize utility spaces BUT PLEASE give the equipment the room it needs to perform properly.
LSO Design offers our design components below in "Standard" (STD) and "High Performance" (HP) versions. The "Standard Components" dimensions shown here are general but are sized to fit common framing conditions.


The component uses suggested below are very flexible to meet your needs.


Example- In a hallway or bath requiring a "Ceiling Mounted" component you may use an "R" Series or "S" Series component to achieve straight down air flow, if the framing condition allows, instead of the "C" Series or Ceiling Components designed to direct the air flow away from exterior glass surfaces.


The "High Performance" or "HP" components are for application during the development of your design where the number of duct runs is critical or in markets where the installing contractors modify the manufacturers standard installation and operating instructions. We recommend that the equipment manufacturers standards be strictly followed. The "High Performance" or "HP" components vary in overall dimensions by 1/2" to 1" in height and width of the cross section.

Model S-1

Model S-1 is a 13" wide (14" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with a Single (1) SDHV duct connection. It is a "Straight Through" air path design and does change the direction of the air from the secondary duct connection.

It is typically used in soffit designs where the outlets are mounted on the face of the soffit, or adjacent lower ceiling heights, for horizontal air flow into to higher living areas at least 7 1/2' off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model S-3

Model S-3 is a 28" wide (29" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with Three (3) SDHV duct connections. It is a "Straight Through" air path design and does change the direction of the air from the secondary duct connection.

It is typically used in soffit designs where the outlets are mounted on the face of the soffit, or adjacent lower ceiling heights, for horizontal air flow into higher living areas at least 7 1/2' off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model C-1

Model C-1 is a 13" wide (14" w' w/ Insulation) active design element with a Single (1) SDHV duct connection. It is for "Ceiling" use, typically, and modifies the air path by 20 degrees to direct the air flow downward and away from exterior wall glass surfaces. It must be installed at least 24" from the exterior glass surfaces. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model C-3

Model C-3 is a 28" wide (29" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with Three (3) SDHV duct connections. It is for "Ceiling" use, typically, and modifies the air path by 20 degrees to direct the air flow downward and away from exterior wall glass surfaces. It must be installed at least 24" from the exterior glass surfaces.
It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model R4-1

Model R4-1 is a 13" wide (14" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with a Single (1) SDHV duct connection. It is for use typically in 2 X 4 or thicker vertical wall construction and modifies the air path by 90 degrees to horizontal, "Right Angle", to direct the air flow perpendicular to wall surface. It should be installed for horizontal air flow at least 7 1/2' high off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model R4-3

Model R4-3 is a 28" wide (29" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with Three (3) SDHV duct connections. It is for use typically in 2 X 4 or thicker vertical wall construction and modifies the air path by 90 degrees, "Right Angle", to direct the air flow perpendicular to wall surface. It should be installed for horizontal air flow at least 7 1/2' high off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model R6-1

Model R6-1 is a 13" wide (14" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with a Single (1) SDHV duct connection. It is for use typically in 2 X 6 or thicker vertical wall construction (or with a special wall detail) and modifies the air path by 90 degrees, "Right Angle", to direct the air flow perpendicular to wall surface. It should be installed for horizontal air flow at least 7 1/2' high off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

Model R6-3

Model R6-3 is a 28" wide (29" w. w/ Insulation) active design element with Three (3) SDHV duct connections. It is for use typically in 2 X 6 or thicker vertical wall construction (or with a special wall detail) and modifies the air path by 90 degrees, "Right Angle", to direct the air flow perpendicular to wall surface. It should be installed for horizontal air flow at least 7 1/2' high off the floor. It is insulated with closed cell insulation. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

D-1

D-1 is the 36" long "cut to fit" passive decorative piece that creates a continuous visual design between LSO active air supply linear design elements and will house LED lighting designs. It also accepts the LED-1 below. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

D-2

D-2 is a 2 5/8" wide passive decorative piece that fits between two LSO active supply linear design elements when they are separated with only a single 2X (1 1/2") framing member. D-2 is compatible with all LSO active Design Components except the LSO Ceiling Models, C-1 and C-2 (for these models use D-3 and D-4 below). Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.

D-3

D-3 is the 36" long "cut to fit" passive decorative piece that creates a continuous visual design element between LSO active linear design elements and will house LED lighting designs. D-4

LED-1

LED-1 is an insert that blocks the direct LED light in a horizontal wall or ceiling lighting design incorporated into the overall LSO design and makes the installation of indirect LED lighting much easier. Standard Finish is White Powder Coat.
